Zofia Plichta, age 86, of Bryan and formerly of Chicago, died at 10:35 A.M. on Sunday, January 22, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family. Zofia had worked as a chemical laboratory technician in her native Poland and then worked in maintenance at Merchandise Mart in Chicago for 31 years after she emigrated to the United States. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and the Polish National Alliance of Chicago. Zofia was born on May 15, 1936, in Lublin, Poland, the daughter of Jan and Maria (Bandosz) Chylinski. She married Edward Plichta in Chicago in 1974 and he preceded her in death. Zofia is survived by her daughters, Katherine (Andrew) Gugalo, of Bryan and Anna Chudziak, of Colorado; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren with another on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Graveside services will be held at a later date at All Saints Cemetery, Des Plains, Illinois. Arrangements have been entrusted to Krill Funeral Service, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the St. Patrick Catholic Church.
