William Earl Armstrong of San Diego, California, passed away on June 20, 2019, surrounded by his loving family at Palomar Hospital in Poway, California. Bill was born on January 22, 1957, to William L. and Virginia (Shiplett) Armstrong in Mentor, Ohio. At a young age the family moved to rural Edon, Ohio, where Bill spent his childhood years and graduated from Edon High School in 1975. Bill joined the US Navy in 1975 where he served for 25 years, five of which were spent as part of Operation Deep Freeze, supporting The National Science Foundation’s exploration of Antarctica. He retired in 1998 as a Senior Chief. Since then, Bill had a 20 year career as a project manager in the family construction business and most recently with West Point Construction. In 1990 Bill married Maryory Contreras in Caracas, Venezuela and she survives. He is also survived by his three daughters, Jessyka Armstrong of Huntington Beach, California, Andrea Armstrong and Kelly Armstrong, both of San Diego; two sisters, Deborah (Richard) Green of Kalkaska, Michigan, and Karen Armstrong, of Bryan, Ohio; one brother, Thomas (Tammy) Armstrong, of Nelsonville, Ohio; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and one paternal aunt, Shirley Tibbs of Angola, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles. Private services have been planned with interment in Columbia Cemetery, Columbia, Ohio.
