Thomas R. Root, age 73, of Bryan, Ohio, passed away at 7:58 P.M. on Monday, November 4, 2019, at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice near Defiance, Ohio, after an extended illness. Mr. Root was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Germany during the Vietnam Era. Throughout the years he had been employed as a brakeman with the Erie Lakawana Railroad, in the steel mills around Youngstown, Ohio, as a security guard in various factories, and as a machinist with Midwest Stamping in Edgerton, Ohio. He was an active member of New Life Worship Center in Bryan and loved to camp and play with his two chihuahuas. Thomas R. Root was born on April 23, 1946, in Springfield, Ohio, the son of Russell LeRoy and Anna May (Mitzel) Root. He married Diana E. Gambler on July 13, 1985, in Bryan and she survives. Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, one son, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and one sister. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. A memorial service celebrating the life of Thomas Root will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2019, at 11:00 A.M. in the New Life Worship Center in Bryan with Pastor Jeff Miller officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in Fountain Grove Cemetery, Bryan. In lieu of flowers memorials are requested to the family in care of Diane Root for expenses.
