Sharon L. Shaffer, age 74, of Edgerton, Ohio, passed away at 1:17 P.M. on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, shortly after admittance to Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers in Bryan after a brief illness. Mrs. Shaffer was a 1966 graduate of Edgerton High School and graduated from Wayne Beauty College in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She owned and operated Sharon’s Beauty Shop for over fifty years until her semi-retirement in 2021. She drove school bus for more than twenty years for Edgerton Local Schools and was involved in the inception of the girls high school softball program and remained part of the program through last season. She also coached Little League softball for many years and kept book for volleyball and basketball for more than thirty years. Sharon was also very active in music boosters, serving as president for many years. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Edgerton and was a diehard New York Yankees and Ohio State Buckeyes fan. Most of all she was an avid fan of the Edgerton Bulldogs and enjoyed all the time spent with her family. Sharon L. Shaffer was born on February 7, 1948, in Fort Wayne, Indiana , the daughter of Merel and Elizabeth Louise (Laker) Swary. She married Alden R. Shaffer on February 24, 1968, in Edgerton, and he preceded her in death on December 17, 2020. Survivors include three sons, Jeffrey Shaffer, of Hicksville, Ohio, Chad (Cynthia Moore) Shaffer and Jamy Shaffer, both of Edgerton; two daughters, Christina Davis and Charnel (Richard) Hazelton, both of Edgerton; twelve grandchildren, Shelby, Joshua, Elizabeth, Alex, Alyssa, Noah, Sydney, Kyli, Chloe, Kyndal, Rikkelle, and Richie; one sister, Sandra (Delton) Maxwell, of Edgerton; and one brother, Robert (LuAnn) Swary, of Edgerton. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Zachary Shaffer. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2022, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 114 East Hull Street, Edgerton, with recitation of the rosary at 7:30 P.M. in the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 10, 2022, at 10:30 A.M. in St. Mary Catholic Church with Reverend Daniel Borgelt officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. Memorials are requested to Edgerton Athletic Boosters.
