Rose Mary “Rose” English, age 99, of Ney, Ohio, passed away at 3:26 P.M. on Friday, December 31, 2021, at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers-Bryan after a brief illness, just three months prior to her 100th birthday. Rose was a 1940 graduate of Tiffin Township High School. She was employed by The Ohio Art Company in Bryan, Ohio, for several years prior to transitioning to a full-time child care provider, taking care of over thirty different children over her thirty-one years as a babysitter. She was a loyal fan of Fairview athletics and was a lifetime member of the Fairview Athletic Boosters. She and her husband were recognized as “Dedicated Sports Fans” by the OHSSA. She was a charter member of Sonrise Community Church in Ney, a fifty-year member of X.O.A. Card Club, an avid reader, and a great friend to many in the northwest Ohio community. She will be missed greatly by her family and all whose lives she touched. Rose Mary “Rose” English was born on March 30, 1922, in Pettisville, Ohio, the daughter of Herman and Mary (Coy) Frank. After the loss of her mother at the age of two, she was raised by her second mom, Gladys Frank. She married her husband of seventy years, Dale L. English, on February 14, 1942, in Pioneer, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on February 12, 2012. Survivors include one son, Randy (Julie) English, of Defiance, Ohio; two daughters, Sue Bowers and Joni (Kreg) Culler, both of Ney; a daughter-in-law, Myra English, of Defiance; nine grandchildren, Brian (Kristen) English, Kacee (Joe) Reid, Staci Renollet, Neeley (Neil) McGill, Brooke (Chris) Snyder, Ashleigh (Gavin), Keenan (Brianna) and Kasen Culler, and Connor (Nicole) English; thirteen great-grandchildren; and one brother, Donnie (Judy) Frank, of Stryker. She was also preceded in death by one son, Dan English; a son-in-law, Alan Bowers; six brothers, Chuck, Ronnie, Eugene, Richie, Kenny, and Lee Frank; and one sister, Jennie Wooton. Due to ongoing pandemic conditions, grave side services open to the public will be held on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at 10:00 A.M. in Ney Cemetery with Pastors Jim and Tonya Kelly officiating. A celebration of Rose’s life will be held at a later date. Memorials are requested to Sonrise Church or to Fairview Athletic Boosters.
