Roger B. Smith, age 85, of Bryan, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 18, 2018, at Evergreen Healthcare Center in Montpelier. Mr. Smith was a 1952 graduate of Bryan High School and a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Korean Conflict. He was a longtime employee of Metal Forge in Stryker, Ohio. He was a member of the New Beginnings Church in Montpelier, was an avid bowler and car enthusiast and enjoyed traveling when he was able to Arizona to visit family. Roger B. Smith was born on June 4, 1932, in Jefferson Township in Williams County, the son Willard B. and Fayma Smith. He married Donna J. Malone on November 26, 1970, Montpelier and she preceded him in death on June 1, 2015. Survivors include three daughters, Linda Smallwood, Lori Smith and Leanne (Cliff) Johnson, all of Mesa, Arizona; ten grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert (Carol) Smith, of Cincinnati, Ohio; four sisters-in-law, Margaret Beck, of Archbold, Ohio, Carolyn (Lyle) Starr, of East Burke, Vermont, Alice (Keith) Hancock, of Bryan, and Audrey Fast, of Bryan; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents and two grandchildren. Visitation for will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2018, from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Services will follow at 1:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Bryan, with Pastor Mike Martinelli officiating. Interment will follow in Shiffler Cemetery near Bryan with grave side military rites conducted by Bryan VFW Post #2489 and the United States Army Honor Guard. Memorials in the name of Roger B. Smith may be given to the New Beginnings Church.
