Roberta Ann Knecht, age 81, of Edgerton, Ohio, passed away at 7:51 P. M. on Friday, August 28, 2020, at Park View Nursing Center in Edgerton, surrounded by her family, after a brief illness. Mrs. Knecht was a 1957 graduate of Edgerton High School and graduated from Bowling Green State University with a degree in elementary education. She began her teaching career with five years at West Unity Schools and retired from Edgerton Local Schools with twenty-six years of service. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Stryker, Ohio, and the Williams County Retired Teachers and Ohio Retired Teachers Associations. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, cooking for family, and attending all her grandchildren’s activities, whether in Edgerton or Columbus. Roberta Ann Knecht was born on January 31, 1939, in Archbold, Ohio, the daughter of Robert E. and Helen (Heisler) Lee. She married Thomas D. Knecht on November 20, 1960, in Edgerton and he survives. Surviving in addition to her husband are one son, Robert (Denise) Knecht, of Edgerton; one daughter, Linda (Thomas) Ryan, of Westerville, Ohio; five grandsons, Bronson, Preston (Laurel) and Carter Knecht and Jacob and Zachary Ryan; and one sister, Donna Lilly, of Citrus Springs, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Patricia Gilbert. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2020, from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 114 East Hull Street, Edgerton. Services will follow at 1:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, with Pastor Dale Kern officiating. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton. Due to the ongoing pandemic restrictions, the family will receive friends while observing social distancing precautions. The family requests visitors to use masks to prevent spreading the virus.
