Richard Arnold “Dick” Lewis, age 84, of Coldwater, Michigan, passed away early Saturday, May 12, 2018, at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Rhonda Lewis, near Bryan, Ohio, after an eighteen-month battle with cancer. He spent his last two weeks at their home being cared for by Rhonda, a hospice nurse, nurse granddaughters, Taylor and Tiffany, his son-in-law and sons. He was a union heavy equipment operator working for Majaac, formerly Swetnam, and Brust Pipeline, from 1952-1990, retiring due to disability. In 1997, he retired to his home on Coldwater Lake, Michigan, where he enjoyed many years of boating and fishing with family. He was a member of Bryan Eagles, Aerie #2233 and was a 50-year member of International Union of Operating Engineers, Local #18.Richard Arnold “Dick” Lewis was born on February 14, 1934, the son of Arnold and Agatha (Hackett) Lewis in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. He was raised in Mount Pleasant, where he met his wife of nearly sixty-five years, Marianne Mrazek, whom he married on May 18, 1953, in Angola, Indiana.Dick is survived by his wife, Marianne; his children, Karen (Darrell) Schwartzengraber, Gary (Rhonda) Lewis, Ric (Penny) Lewis, and Kevin (Lee Ann) Lewis; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Kay Lieferman and Ruthann (Jerry) Fancoric; and numerous cousins, who were like siblings to him. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson Tyler Lewis; and a son, Bill Lewis.A special thank you goes to his hospice nurse who was with him for the past year, Rachel Smith, whom he dearly loved.In keeping with Dick’s wishes, there will be no services at this time, with a celebration of his life to be held at a later date at Coldwater Lake.
