Richard J. Katchmar, age 79, of Montpelier, Ohio, passed away at 6:30 A.M. on Friday, April 5, 2019, at his home. He was a member of the Montpelier Moose. Richard was a truck driver for Consolidated Freightways for 40 years. He mainly drove in the Livonia, Michigan area. Rich was a proud US Army veteran, serving as a Military Policeman based at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba from 1959-1960. He was an avid reader and loved spending time with his dog, Chico. Richard J. Katchmar was born on February 23, 1940, in Dearborn, Michigan, the son of Henry and Mildred (Rose) Katchmar. Rich was a 1957 graduate of Edsel-Ford High School in Dearborn. He married Margo Siebenaler on December 10, 1994 and she survives. Richard is also survived by his children, Kimberly LaDuke, of Whitmore Lake, Michigan and Joseph (Melissa) Katchmar, of Dexter, Michigan; four grandchildren, Aubrey, Wesley, Wyatt and Derek and a brother, Randy (Peggy) Katchmar, of Monroe, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents. In accordance with Richard’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service. Private burial will be at Riverside Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Krill Funeral Service, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Rich had a love of rescue animals. The family requests that instead of flowers, memorial donations be given to the Williams County Humane Society, 9464 County Road, 13, Bryan, Ohio 43506, in his memory.
