Rex E. Manges, age 83, of Edon, Ohio, passed away at 8:49 A.M. on Sunday, August 9, 2020, in his home, surrounded by family, after an extended illness. Mr. Manges was a 1955 graduate of Edon High School and was a lifelong farmer and mechanic, who worked at several automotive shops, and co-owned B & M Auto Service with Richard Bostater for thirteen years. He was a devoted member of the Edgerton Church of Christ, proclaimed his Christian faith to all he met, and enjoyed his time with his family. Rex also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Rex E. Manges was born on July 27, 1937, near Edon, the son of Sylvester Earl and Mildred Jane (Wisman) Manges. He married Karen D. Newcomb on June 9, 1957, in West Unity, Ohio, and she survives. Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Kathy (Mike) Powers, of Kettering, Ohio, and Debra (Chuck) Brumbaugh, of Edon; two sons, Randall (Georgene) Manges and Steven (Terri) Manges, both of Edon; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; one sister, Linda (George) Hudak, of Bowling Green, Ohio; and a sister-in-law, Martha Manges, of Edon. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant twin brother, Ross Manges; one brother, Lyle Manges; and a sister and brother-in-law, Norma and Marvin Thiel. Grave side services will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2020, at 11:00 A.M. in Edon Cemetery, with Pastor Jeff Brookins officiating. Interment will follow in Edon Cemetery. Due to the pandemic, social distancing will be observed for the service and the wearing of masks is encouraged.
