Norma A. Grond

Norma A. Grond, age 88, of Defiance, Ohio, died at 9:50 A.M. on Sunday, July 17, 2022, at the Laurels of Defiance after a brief illness. Mrs. Grond attended the Ney United Methodist Church and was a seamstress for many years. She enjoyed sewing, crafts and spending time with her grandchildren. Norma was born August 10, 1933, in Rockford, Illinois, the daughter of Niels P. and Vivian I. (Pierce) Jensen. She married Norman E. Vincent on November 1, 1952, and he preceded her in death on March 18, 1955. She then married Spencer D. Grond on October 12, 1957, and he also preceded her in death on September 15, 2008. Norma is survived by a daughter, Karen (William) Kimberly, of Defiance, Ohio; six grandchildren, Kevin Schlachter, of Kentucky, Casey (Dave) Leonard, of Massachusetts, Kyle Schlachter, of Ney, Ohio, Ashley Grond, Tiffany Robles and Brittany Grond, all of Defiance, Ohio; 16 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and one brother, Keith N. Jensen, of Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first and second husbands; one son, David A. Grond; and six siblings, Lawrence P. Jensen, Glen A. Jensen, Ruth M. Williams, Merle E. Jensen, Harold W. Jensen and Shirley J. Ohse. In keeping with Norma’s wishes, there will be no public services. Private interment will take place at Shiffler Cemetery at a later date. Memorials are requested to the Ney United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
