Marvin Wayne Gilbert, age 86, passed away at 5:48 A.M. on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at Community Health Professions Inpatient Hospice in Defiance, Ohio, after a brief illness. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Marvin owned horses and especially enjoyed watching horse races. He owned and operated Gilbert Well Drilling for several years. Marvin was born on October 28, 1935, in Montpelier, Ohio, the son of John and Edith (Calvin) Gilbert. He married Sue Carol Sonner in Las Vegas, Nevada, and she survives. Survivors also include one son, Scott (Stephanie) Gilbert, of Noblesville, Indiana; one daughter, Laurie Meyers, of Perrsyburg, Ohio; two step-daughters, Tonya Jackson, of Louisana, and Twyla (Ken) Starrett, of Newberry, Ohio; several grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one sister, Bonnie (Richard) Wolfe, of Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Maurice and John Gilbert; one sister, Dorothy Snow; and an infant sister. In keeping with Marvin’s wishes, there will be no services. Krill Funeral Service, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, Ohio, has been entrusted with his arrangements. Memorials are requested to Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice, Muscular Dystrophy Association or a charity of the donor’s choice.
