John Leroy Stokes, Sr., age 74, of Bryan, Ohio, passed away at 3:05 A.M. on Tuesday, April 17, 2018. Mr. Stokes was a 1961 graduate of Bryan High School and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving during the Vietnam era. He had been employed by Sauder Woodworking, retiring with more than twenty years of service. He was a member of Bryan VFW Post #2489 and enjoyed woodworking, taking walks, traveling, sightseeing and camping. John Leroy Stokes, Sr., was born on October 21, 1943, in Bryan, Ohio the son of Charles Albert and Pauline Marie (Algeo) Stokes.He is survived by his children, Michelle (Mike) Behnfeldt, of Ridgeville Corners, Ohio, John (Tracey) Stokes, Jr., of Bryan, and Jamie (Mark) Prince, of Edon, Ohio; eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Harold (Terry) Stokes, of Defiance, Ohio, Joe (Sandy) Stokes, of Bryan, and Edwin (Chalo) Stokes, of West Unity, Ohio; and his long time companion, Vicki Evers, of Pettisville, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents.Visitation will be held in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, from 1:00–3:00 P.M. on Sunday, April 22, 2018. Military rites will follow, conducted by Bryan VFW Post #2489 and the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard. Interment will be private.Memorials are requested to the a local dementia support group of the donor’s choice.
