John A. Restainer, Jr.

John A. Restainer, Jr., age 74, of Bryan, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, as a result of injuries he received in a car accident. He worked as a millwright welder at General Motors in Saginaw, Michigan and Defiance, Ohio for 21 years. John was a member of First Baptist Church in Bryan. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, woodworking and playing water volleyball at the YMCA. He was there for anyone in need. John A. Restainer, Jr. was born on September 27, 1943, in Standish, Michigan, the son of John A. and Irene R. (Ross) Restainer, Sr. He married Joyce L. Hilliker on August 10, 1968 in Standish, and she survives. John is also survived by his daughter, Julie Restainer, of Bryan, sons, Patrick (Jenny) Ecker, of Omer, Michigan and Steve (Cheryl “Peanut”) Ecker, of Standish; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and a sister, Joyce (Bill) Robinson, of Twining, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents, sons, Jim and Tony Ecker, daughter, Cindy Dohm and two brothers. Services for John A. Restainer, Jr. will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Monday, June 11, 2018 at Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan with Pastor John MacFarlane officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 P.M., prior to the service.Memorials in the name of John A. Restainer, Jr. are requested to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
