Joanne Esther Wejrowski, age 84, of New York City, New York, passed on Monday, April 22, 2024, surrounded by her family here on Earth to join her heavenly Father and family that preceded her in death; her loving parents, Stanley and Nettie (Lobodzinski) Wejrowski; siblings, Edward (Joan) Wejrowski, Louie Wejrowski, Irene (Bernie) Borys and Maxine (Bill) Beeman. Joanne is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews that adored her.
Joanne was born on November 6, 1939, in Bay County, Michigan and grew up on a farm in Fisherville, Michigan that she loved very much, but at age 21, she left for New York City with dreams of becoming an actress. She achieved that dream becoming involved with Actor’s Studio, theater plays on the road and even made the cover of Help Magazine.
She attended Bay City Junior College and NYU in New York. She worked various jobs but eventually found a home with the famous Cetta Bros. Sparks Steakhouse. She always made sure family members visiting her got treated to a wonderful meal with special treatment at Sparks. They were her New York family and always treated her as such. For many years she also owned a home in Ohio close to her nieces. She enjoyed sitting on the swing in her backyard enjoying the flowers and trees that reminded her of the farm in Michigan where she grew up.
Our Aunt Joannie was beautiful, courageous, and adventurous. She loved God, her family, New York and was truly one of a kind.
