Jimmy “Jim” Lee Thompson, age 67, of Ney, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 16, 2018, surrounded by his family at ProMedica Hospital in Toledo, Ohio. Jim graduated from Hicksville High School and ITT Institute in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and also attended Cincinnati Bible Seminary in Cincinnati, Ohio. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior with Christian baptism in 1967, alongside his mother, Eunice. As a member of Defiance Christian Church, he served as Elder and Sunday School teacher. He was employed by Titan Tire in Bryan, Ohio, retiring in 2011 after 37 years of service.Jimmy Lee Thompson was born on March 9, 1951, Hicksville, Ohio, to William and Eunice (Pierce) Thompson, who both preceded him in death. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Diane (Carlin), whom he married on March 18, 1972. Also surviving are his children, Shane, of Ney, Ohio, Jeremy (Melody Hope) of Defiance, Ohio, Christopher (Charlotte), of Decatur, Illinois, and Matthew (Julie), of Indianapolis, Indiana; eight grandchildren, Ethan, Caden, Audree, Joshua, Camden, Caitlyn, Carleigh and River Thompson; siblings, Sue (Ken) Carnahan, Carol (Mark) Pocratsky, Duane, Robin (Leslie), and Janice (Jerry) Fisher. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2018, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. in Defiance Christian Church, 955 Standley Road, Defiance, Ohio. Services will be held on Friday, October 19, 2018, at 10:30 A.M. in Defiance Christian Church with Pastor Mike Hasselbring officiating. Interment will follow in Ney Cemetery.Memorial contributions are requested to Defiance Christian Church.
