Jean Maxine Colgrove Thiel went home to be with her Lord on October 21, 2020, at SKLD in Bryan, Ohio. Jean had many jobs in her long life of 97 years, such as baker, waitress, seamstress, and English tutor. She was also a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Jean loved to garden, sew, embroider, knit, crochet, square dance, travel, and read, especially her Bible. She also loved music and played her organ and violin until she lost her vision at age 90. Jean Maxine Colgrove was born on January 31, 1923, to Chester and Ethel (Little) Colgrove in Jackson, Michigan. Jean married John Ramsey Thiel on December 1, 1978, and he preceded her in death on September 23, 2017. Jean loved her family. She is survived by sons, John and Gene (Mary) Hodapp and Michael Simon; and daughter, Luverne Dickinson Adamson (Steve); stepsons, Mark (Karen) and Jeff Thiel; and stepdaughter, Susan Thiel Castagnier (Dan). She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Carl Dickinson; daughter, Ethel Dickinson Wise (Randy); sisters, Geraldine Wilson and Jacqueline Petzer; and grandson, Joshua Skalland. She has 28 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service at Krill Funeral Home, Bryan, Ohio, will be held on October 31, 2020, at 12 noon, with Rev. Steven E. Adamson officiating. Visitation will begin prior to the service at 11 AM. She will be laid to rest at Fountain Grove Cemetery in Bryan, Ohio, following the service.
