James A. Deck, age 91, of Edon, Ohio, passed away at 2:13 A.M. on Friday, March 6, 2020, at Bethlehem Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where he was a patient. Mr. Deck was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Korean Conflict. He was a lifelong farmer and attended Mount Union Christian Church near Edon. James A. Deck was born on November 20, 1928, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Clay E. and Gretchen (Schaffer) Deck. He married M. Juanita Higginbotham on September 12, 1950, in LaGrange, Indiana, and she preceded in death on March 6, 2006. Survivors include one daughter, Diana (Scott) Byrnes, of Wausaukee, Wisconsin; three grandchildren, Toby Deck, of Edon, Jaime Siebenaler, of San Diego, California, and Michelle Breitigan, of Lima, Ohio; three great-grandchildren, Nevaya and Darian Deck and Shalina Lewis; one great-great-grandson, Royce Lewis; two sisters, Maralyn Ailiff, of Woodsfield, Ohio, and Melba English, of Sylvester, Georgia; and a daughter-in-law, Louise (Scott) Dick, of Edon. He was also preceded in death by a son, Mitch Deck, in 1973, and a brother, Ned Deck. In accordance with Jim’s requests there will be no services and private interment has taken place in Edon Cemetery, Ohio. Arrangements have been entrusted to Krill Funeral Service, 204 West Indiana Street, Edon, Ohio.
