Ivan Jr. Nichols, age 92, of Auburn, Indiana, passed away at 4:40 P.M. on Thursday, February 15, 2018, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Garrett, Indiana, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Nichols was a heavy equipment operator and was a longtime employee of Sweatnam Pipeline. A jack-of-all-trades, he could fix anything. He loved John Deere tractors, playing his banjo, sitting on the porch and visiting, a good cup of coffee and attending church. In his younger days he also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was the #1 backhoe operator in the eyes of his grandkids. Ivan Jr. Nichols was born on January 26, 1926, in Coldwater, Michigan, the son of Ivan O. and Mabel Faye (Carpenter) Nichols. He married Iva Mae Baker on May 17, 1948, in Angola, Indiana, and she preceded him in death on June 14, 1991. He then married Joyce Loomer on March 18, 2000, and she preceded him in death on January 3, 2018.Survivors include two daughters, Beverly Sidle, of Montpelier, Ohio, and Patsy Hetrick, of Auburn; three sons, Ivan (Betty) Nichols, of Montpelier, Winston (Karen) Nichols, of Edon, Ohio, and Warren (Kim) Nichols, of Edgerton, Ohio; fourteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Ardatha Newell and Joann Sawdy, both of Osseo, Michigan, Frieda McClellan, of Frontier, Michigan, and Shirley Brackman, of Pittsford, Michigan. He was also preceded in death by one grandchild; seven brothers, Howard, Glen, Bill, John, George, Jake, and Bernard; and six sisters, Willa, Wilma, Dorothy, Berdine, Jane and Janet.Services will be held on Sunday, February 18, 2018, at 2:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 114 East Hull Street, Edgerton, with Pastor David Oliphant officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton. Visitation will be held in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton for two hours prior to the service, from 12:00-2:00 P.M. Memorials are requested to Restoration Fellowship Church.
