Gerald L. “Jerry” Demorest, age 73, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2018, while on a motorcycle trip near Prescott, Arizona. Mr. Demorest was a 1963 graduate of Angola High School in Angola, Indiana, and had attended IPFW, studying commercial art. He had been a long-haul truck driver for thirty years and in retirement drove bus for six years for Excursion Trailways. He was an accomplished artist and graphic designer and was a member of Fellowship Missionary Church in Fort Wayne.Gerald L. Demorest was born on December 19, 1944, in Coldwater, Michigan, the son of Clyde LaVern and Cleo Drucil (Breland) Demorest. He married Linda M. Keppeler on May 11, 1968, in Edgerton, Ohio.Survivors include his wife, Linda (Keppeler) Demorest, of Fort Wayne; four sons, Matthew (Stephanie) Demorest, of Fort Wayne, Eric (Kim) Demorest and Jemy (Jessie) Demorest, both of Stephen City, Virginia, and Peter (Beth) Demorest, of Rolesville, North Carolina; exchange student daughter, Wing (Jay) Phoun, in Florida; ten grandchildren; and one sister, Waneice Beers, of Bilouxi, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his parents.A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018, at 11:00 A.M. at Fellowship Missionary Church, 2536 East Tillman Road in Fort Wayne. The family will receive visitors from 9:00-11:00 A.M. prior to the service in the church.Private interment will take place in Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton, Ohio.Memorials are requested to the family to establish a education fund for the grandchildren and may be made directly to the family.
