Evelyn J. Fitton, age 74, of Fremont, Indiana, and formerly of rural Montpelier, Ohio, died at 11:20 A.M. on Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at Dupont Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where she was a patient. She attended Fremont High School and was employed at the Montpelier Senior Center for seventeen years as a cook. She enjoyed cooking and making all kinds of goodies, working on puzzles and spending time with her family. Evelyn J. Fitton was born on October 22, 1943, in Angola, Indiana, the daughter of Melvin and Nellie Jean (Petrie) Winebernner. She married Harold Lee Fitton on October 28, 1961, in Cement City, Michigan, and he preceded her in death on March 6, 1997.Survivors include two daughters, Rebecca (Charles) Benz, of Fremont, and Christina Fitton, of Mesa, Arizona; three sons, Harold (Debra Raymo) Fitton, of Addison, Michigan, Todd (Wayne) Hardesty, of Kinderhook, Michigan, and Steve (Susan) Fitton, of Fort Wayne; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Bill (Carol) Winbernner, of Angola, Richard (Linda) Winebernner, of Hamilton, Indiana, and Samuel (Rose) Winebernner, of Edon, Ohio; one sister, Ricki Riddle, of Angola; and one sister-in-law, Karolyn Winbernner, of Angola. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Joe and Larry Winbernner.Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, from 1:00-4:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 204 West Indiana Street, Edon, Ohio. Services will follow at 4:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edon, with Reverend Doug Widdowson officiating. Private interment will take place in Billingstown Cemetery near Columbia, Ohio. Memorials are requested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
