Eva Gaye Tomlinson, age 84, of Bryan, Ohio, passed away at 12:16 A.M. on Monday, January 14, 2019, in her home, surrounded by her family, after an extended illness. Mrs. Tomlinson was a 1952 graduate of Farmer High School and received her degree in elementary education from Bowling Green State University, where she was a member of an academic sorority. She taught elementary education in the Edon Northwest school system and then at Washington School in the Bryan school system. She also was a tutor for many years. Eva Gaye enjoyed the outdoors, taking long walks in the woods, bird watching, sewing, gardening, crafting, reading, baking homemade pizza and pies, and making homemade ice cream and was an avid canner. She was also an avid bicyclist who after graduation from college exhibited her adventuresome side by cycling across and exploring Europe. As a devoted farm wife, she did everything from milking cows to driving tractor and combine. She was also a devoted and loving mother and grandmother who attended to her grandkids, making all birthdays special and organizing summer plays for them and the neighborhood children for many years. She also was able to carry on the tradition of the family sugar camp and the making of maple syrup. Most of all, Eva Gaye was a faithful follower of Christ and lived her faith to the fullest each and every day. Eva Gaye Tomlinson was born on August 3, 1934, near Hicksville, Ohio, the daughter of Russell and Orpha (Kimmel) Hilbert. While attending Farmer High School she met and dated her future husband, George O. Tomlinson, whom she married on February 9, 1957, in Farmer, Ohio. Survivors include her husband, George; one daughter, Darcy Adams, of Bryan; one son, Todd (Christine) Tomlinson, of Bryan; five grandchildren, Ashley (Adams) Tacia, Ryan Adams, Kaiti (Tomlinson) Bates, Malin Adams, and Michaela Adams; three great-grandchildren, Haley and Jack Tacia and Anna Bates; and one sister, Shirley Fritz, of Bryan. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2019, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Services will be held on Friday, January 18, 2019, at 11:00 A.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Bryan, with Pastor Mike Elkins officiating. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 in the funeral home. Interment will be in Williams Center Cemetery. Memorials are requested to American Cancer Society.
