Esther J. Whitman, age 93, of Edgerton, Ohio, passed away at 7:50 A.M. on Tuesday, February 26, 2019, at Hillside Country Living near Bryan, Ohio, after a brief illness. Mrs. Whitman was a 1943 graduate of Metz High School in Metz, Indiana. She was employed by Edgerton Local Schools for many years as a cafeteria cook. She enjoyed long time memberships in Do-it-Right Farm Bureau Council and Jolly Neighbors. Esther J. Whitman was born on April 11, 1925, near Hamilton, Indiana, the daughter of Germ and Maude (Riley) Robinett. She married Ernest H. Whitman on November 28, 1942, and he preceded her in death on June 8, 1977. Survivors include five sons, Tom (Mary) Whitman, of Bryan, Keith (Kathy) Whitman, of Astor, Florida, Gary (Lorraine) Whitman, of Edgerton, David (Linda) Whitman, of West Unity, Ohio, and James (Pamela) Whitman, of Edon, Ohio; one daughter, Linda (Greg) Gelhausen, of Cincinnati, Ohio; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Kurt Whitman; one sister, Erma Burch; five brothers, Deloy, Denver, Raymond, Elvin and Kenneth Robinett; and two infant brothers. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 1, 2019, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 114 East Hull Street, Edgerton. Services will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2019, at 11:00 A.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, with Pastor Doug Widdowson officiating. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 A.M. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton. Memorials are requested to Community Health Professionals Home Care and Hospice.
