Elmer C. Kies

Elmer C. Kies, age 87, of Sidney, Ohio passed away Thursday, January 18, 2024 at Grandview Medical Center in Dayton.  Elmer was a grinder at Hartzell Propeller, Inc. From February 15, 1960 to February 15, 1999, retiring after 39 years of service.  He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ.

Elmer Charles Kies was born on October 20, 1936 in Shelby County, Ohio, the son of John William and Amanda Marie (Whittenbrink) Kies.  He married Cheryl E. Harker on October 8, 1994 in St. Paris, Ohio and she survives. 

Elmer is also survived by his children, Martin (Pam) Kies, of Quincy, Ohio, Jeffrey (Tina) Kies, of Wapakoneta, Ohio, Douglas (Mary Jo) Kies, of Quincy, Ohio, Kelley (Ron) Brautigam, of, of Sidney, Elmer “Chuck” (Kim) Kies, Jr., of Sidney, Rhonda Kies, of Peoria, Arizona, Jennifer Kies, of Anna, Ohio and Ryan Kies, of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; many grandchildren and great grandchildren.   He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Marilyn (Strohmenger) Kies; daughter, Yvonne Cummings two sisters and a brother.

Elmer will be laid to rest at Maple Grove Cemetery in Edgerton, Ohio.  Krill Funeral Service, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan has been entrusted with his arrangements.
