Elaine L. Pickering, age 88, of Bryan, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice Center near Defiance. Elaine was a homemaker, avid bowler and enjoyed embroidering quilts. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, the church’s St. Francis Circle and the Williams County YMCA. Elaine was born on June 25, 1934, in Buffalo, New York, the daughter of William G. and Helen B. (Skrok) Kernig. She was a graduate of Archbold High School. Elaine married Russell J. Pickering in Defiance on December 28, 1963 and he preceded her in death on July 27, 2019. Elaine is survived by her son, Eric (Sunshine) Pickering, of Bryan; daughter, Amy (Aaron Johnson) Pickering, of Tucson, Arizona; granddaughter, Erica (Justin) McNamara, of Bryan; a great grandson on the way, Connor Russell McNamara; sisters, Loretta Downing, of Bryan and Joan (Jay) Woodard, of Defiance. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Nancy Edwards and brother, William Kernig. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 30, 2022 from 4:00-6:00 P.M. at the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Graveside services will be held at Brown Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Guardian Angel Fund at St. Patrick Catholic School or Community Health Professionals Hospice.
