Dorothy F. Mavis, age 90, of Edgerton, Ohio, passed away at 3:33 A.M. on Thursday, April 12, 2018, at Community Memorial Hospital in Hickville, Ohio, where she was a patient after a brief illness. Mrs. Mavis was a 1945 graduate of Butler High School and had worked along side her husband as a bookkeeper at Karl’s Sinclair station in Edgerton for many years. She also had worked at Hoenie’s Supermarket and later at Bob’s Dairy Bar in Edgerton. She was a devoted member of Trinity Bible Church in Edgerton and enjoyed her card club and bible study group and was a member of the Edgerton Fire Department Auxiliary. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed camping, gardening, sewing and attending various athletic events throughout the years. Dorothy F. Mavis was born on September, 10, 1927, near Butler, Indiana, the daughter of Clarence and Rozella (Hug) Camp. She married Karl Mavis on September 20, 1947, near Hamilton, Indiana and he survives.Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters, Karla (Tom) Stark, of Edgerton, and Teresa Hancock, of Stryker, Ohio; one son, Douglas (Becky) Mavis, of Edgerton; nine grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Eileen Word, of Edgerton. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Kathy; a son-in-law, Steve Hancock; a grandson-in-law, Kurt Whitman; four sisters, Francis Mason, Mary Alice Olds, Mabel Osborn and Marjorie Vondren; and one brother, Russell CampVisitation will be held on Sunday, April 15, 2018, from 3:00-7:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 114 East Hull Street, Edgerton. Services will be held in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, on Monday, April 16, 2018, at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Matt Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton.Memorials are requested to Trinity Bible Church in Edgerton.
