Dorothy L. Mavis, age 91, of rural Edgerton, Ohio, passed away at 12:20 A.M. on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice Center near Defiance, Ohio, after an extended illness. Mrs. Mavis was a 1945 graduate of Edgerton High School and had been employed as a bookkeeper and parts manager at Liechty Farm Equipment in Edgerton, retiring with more than thirty years of service. She was a member of the Edgerton United Methodist Church and enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids. Dorothy also enjoyed watching the farming going on around her home, crocheting, especially baby afghans, and reading. Dorothy L. Mavis was born on March 24, 1927, in Norwalk, Ohio, the daughter of Arthur A. and Gladys L. (Heston) Worthington. She married Duane R. Mavis on June 11, 1945, in Edgerton and he preceded her in death on January 10, 1990. Survivors include one son, Gary (Patricia) Mavis, of Edgerton; two daughters, Barbara (Gary) Arnos, of Bryan, and Cindy (David) Strait, of Edgerton; seven grandchildren, Scott (Jenny) Mavis, Brian (Joni) Mavis, Kim (Brett) Morris, Mike Arnos, Diane (Devin) Russell, Megan (Scott) Crites, and Melanie (Chad) Bok; and nineteen great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2019, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 114 East Hull Street, Edgerton. Services will be held on Friday, January 25, 2019, at 2:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, with Pastor Doug Widdowson officiating. The family will also receive visitors for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 P.M. Interment will follow in Farmer Cemetery, Farmer, Ohio. Memorials are requested to Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice, the Central Shares Program at Fairview Schools, or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
