Christina Sue Schwarzbek, age 76, of Bryan, Ohio, passed away at her home on Friday morning, July 21, 2023. Chris retired from the Defiance City Schools as a teacher with over 30 years of service. She taught in Fort Wayne prior to Defiance. Chris was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and was active in the St. Anne’s Circle. She enjoyed talking on the phone and spending time with her family. They spent 50 years going to Marble Lake at Cottonwood Resort.
Christina was born on December 18, 1946, in Sherwood, Ohio, the daughter of James Carl and Frances Lee (Partee) Wonderly. Chris earned her Bachelor Degree from St. Francis College. She married Dean E. Schwarzbek on July 24, 1971, and he survives. They would have celebrated 52 years of marriage on Monday.
Chris is also survived by her daughter, Carrie (Craig) Kline, of Bellefontaine, Ohio; son, Craig (Melissa Baker) Schwarzbek, of Ney; grandchildren, Cameron and Cale Kline and Kobe and Kendall Baker; sister, Rickie (Scott) Guilford, of Ayersville and brother, Tom (Chery) Wonderly, of Bryan and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law, Karen Wonderly.
Visitation for Chris will be held at Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, from 4:00 to 6:30 P.M. on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, followed by a Rosary service beginning at 6:30 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 27, 2023 at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Reverend Steve Stanberry officiating. She will be laid to rest at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery near Ney.
Memorials are requested to St. Patrick Catholic Church.
