Charles F. Salyer

Charles Freeman Salyer, age 81 , of Edgerton, Ohio, passed away peacefully, Sunday, December 17, 2023 in his home. Mr. Salyer was a long time laborer with Navistar Inc. In his younger years, Charles enjoyed woodworking and was a nature lover; especially holding an adoration for dogs. Charles also was a family man and loved each moment with his grandkids. 

Charles F. Salyer was born on September 6, 1942, in Magoffin County, Kentucky, the son of Orville and Esther (Meadows) Salyer. He married Geraldine Ann (Johnson) Salyer on December 30, 1961, in Fort Wayne and she preceded him in death on August 3, 2016.  

Charles is survived by his daughter, Tammy (Jeff) Embree; son, Tim (David Johnson) Salyer; grandchildren, David (Kirby) Embree, Michelle Embree, and Valerie (Kyle) Downs; 4 great-granddaughters; sisters, Louise (Bobby) Johnson, June (Mitchell “Bill”) Crace, and Virginia (Steve) Maffett. He was also preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jerry Salyer, Paul (Phyllis) Patrick; sisters, Ann (Clarence) Black and Hazel Brashear.

Services celebrating the life of Charles F. Salyer will be held on a later date. 

Memorials are requested to Dekalb Humane Society or a Children’s Hospital of the donor’s choice.
