Carol L. Armitage, age 66, of Hicksville, Ohio, passed away at 3:10 P.M. on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at The Laurels of DeKalb in Butler, Indiana, after a brief illness. Mrs. Armitage was a 1975 graduate of Hicksville High School. She was the coordinator of the original 911 system in Defiance County and retired as Director of 911 for the Defiance County Sheriff’s Department with sixteen years of service. She loved animals and baseball and was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. Most of all she loved the time spent with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Carol L. Armitage was born on December 21, 1956, in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Fred and Ruth (Laub) Tonneas. She married Timothy Armitage on August 5, 1988, at Coburn Corners, Indiana, and he survives.
Surviving in addition to her husband are her children, Heather R. Smith, of Hicksville, Matthew (Laca) Armitage, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Nathan (Katelyn ) Metz, of Hicksville, and Miranda (Roberto) Ramon II, of Paulding, Ohio; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Bryan (Katrina) Tonneas, of Bryan, Ohio; one sister, Gail Stone, of Dayton, Ohio; and a sister-in-law, Yvonne Tonneas, of Hamilton, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Shane Metz; a son-in-law, Doug Smith; and a brother, Steve Tonneas.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, from 2:00-4:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 114 East Hull Street, Edgerton. Services will follow at 4:00 P.M. in the funeral home with Pastor Steve Eyers officiating.
