View Video Tribute Stanley S. Perry, age 60, of Edgerton, Ohio, died on Friday, May 4, 2007, at 10:06 p.m., shortly after admittance to Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan, after competing in a race at Spartan Motor Speedway in Mason, Michigan. Mr. Perry was the owner of Stan Perry Excavating in Edgerton, Ohio, since 1970 and was a well-known race car driver in the tri-state area, currently competing with McNalley-Perry Racing. His family wishes to give a special thanks to John McNalley, “His Little Buddy,”and the entire McNalley-Perry Race Team. Mr. Perry was beginning his fortieth year in racing, predominately in the Super Late Model Division. Over the years he held track championships at Bryan Motor Speedway, Avilla Motor Speedway, Angola Motor Speedway and Baer Field Motor Speedway. In 2006 he was named Sportsman of the Year at Spartan Motor Speedway and was also a member of the Avilla Motor Speedway Hall of Fame. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Edgerton, Ohio. Stanley S. Perry was born on March 12, 1947, in Bryan, Ohio, the son of Leighton Wayne and Elizabeth Margene (Dietsch) Perry. He married Konnie Kay Akey on May 21, 1966, in Edgerton, Ohio, and she survives. In addition to his wife, Mr. Perry is survived by two daughters, Shelley (Jack) Landis and Camie (Rob) Hicks, both of Edgerton, Ohio, one son, Bud (Amy) Perry, of Edgerton, Ohio, and seven grandchildren. He is also survived by five brothers, Edward (Lori Balser) Perry, Hugh (Jane) Perry, Lionel (Wendy Miller) Perry and Monte (Jackie) Perry, all of Edgerton, Ohio, and Tod (Ann) Perry, of Hicksville, Ohio, five sisters, Angela Kennerk, Mary (Darrin) Jones and Beth (Jeff) Winzler, all of Edgerton, Ohio, Candace (Don) Conley, of Edisto Beach, South Carolina, and Jestine Schmitt, of Monroe, North Carolina, and his in-laws, Pete and Gladys Akey, of St. Joe, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Kevin Perry, one nephew, Thomas Kennerk, and one niece, Alicia Pike. Services for Stanley S. Perry will be on Thursday, May 10, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Stephen Schroeder officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Edgerton, Ohio. Visitation will be in the Krill Funeral Home in Edgerton, Ohio, from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 8, and from 2-8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9, with a scripture service to be held at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Memorials in the name of Stanley S. Perry may be given to St. Mary’s Catholic School.
