Richard W. Johnson, age 84, of Edon, Ohio, died at 6:15 a.m. on Sunday, April 24, 2005, in Harborside Health Care Center of Northwest Ohio, where he was a resident. Mr. Johnson had moved to Edon three years ago to live with his son. Mr. Johnson was a World War II veteran of the Army Air Corps. He attended the Massachusetts Intstitute of Technology and was an Industrial Engineer by profession. He retired from The Aro Corporation in the 1960s and became a teaching tennis professional for twenty years from the age of 55 until he gave his last lesson at age 75. Richard W. Johnson was born September 21, 1920 in Jersey City, New Jersey, the son of Wistar W. and Dorothy (Livingston) Johnson. He is survived by two sons, Len Johnson, of Edon, Ohio, Tim Johnson, of Cathedral City, California and one daughter, Pat Jackson, of Kalamazoo, Michigan. He is also survived by three grandsons, eight great-grandchildren and one brother, John Johnson, of Sarasota, Florida. He was preceded in death by one brother, Edward Johnson. There will be no public visitation or services at this time. Interment will be in the Edon Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to and the online register signed at www.krillfuneralservice.com.
