Barbara A. Holthues, age 75, of Edon, Ohio, died at 11:55 a.m. on Monday, January 10, 2005, at Hillside Country Living near Bryan, Ohio, where she was a resident. Mrs. Holthues was a teacher, retiring in 1980 after twenty years of service, including two years in Pulaski, seven years in Farmer and 11 years in the Edon school system. She was also a GED teacher from 1986 -1993 for the Four County school system. She was also employed in many other positions throughout her career, including the Blakeslee Post Office, Port-A-Pit in Edgerton, Bryan Home Health Care, Wolff Tractor Sales, Rings Drug Store, Brown’s Drive-in, Fifty Corp., and Douglas Aircraft. She was also an Amway distributor. Her memberships included the Edon United Methodist Church, the Williams County Retired Teachers Association, and a former member of the Edon American Legion Auxiliary. Barbara A. Holthues was born May 26, 1929, in Ney, Ohio, the daughter of Chester and Pauline (Stewman) Connelly. She married Carl D. Holthues on January 17, 1954, in Bryan, Ohio, and he survives. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Holthues is survived by one brother, Tom (Jan) Connelly, of Verdin, Illinois, one sister, Rachel (Jim) Eustace, of San Benito, Texas, six nephews and nieces and eleven great-nephews and great-nieces. She was preceded in death by one brother, Allen Connelly. Services for Barbara A. Holthues will be Thursday, January 13, 2005, at 1:30 p.m. in the Edon United Methodist Church with Pastors Eric Dailey and Cliff Graves officiating. Burial will follow in Edon Cemetery. Visitation will be in the Krill Funeral Home, Edon, Ohio, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 12. Memorials in the name of Barbara A. Holthues may be given to Edon United Methodist Church.
