View Video Tribute Florence Grove, 91 years, of Archbold, Ohio, and formerly of Bryan, Ohio, died Thursday, April 19, 2007, at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers, Bryan, Ohio. Florence was a graduate of Farmer High School and Manchester College. She taught school in the Center Township, Superior Township, Pioneer, Pulaski-Jefferson, and Edgerton Local Schools, a career that spanned 32 years. Florence held leadership positions in Edgerton Teachers Association, Northwest Ohio Education Association, the Ohio Education Association and the Williams County Community Concert Association. In addition, she was a member of the National Education Association, Alpha Mu Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, the Lockport Mennonite Church, the Lick Creek Church of the Brethren, and the Northwest Ohio Manchester College Alumni Chapter. Music was important to her throughout her life which was expressed through her love of piano and singing. She was instrumental in organizing the Williams County Mass Choir. Florence was honored to have been inducted into the Williams County Historical Society Wall of Fame. Florence Grove was born on January 13, 1916, the daughter of Leo and Ada Stombaugh. She married Kedric Grove in February of 1943, in Bryan, and he preceded her in death. Surviving are one daughter, Myrna J. Grove of Bryan; two sons, Dr. Dean (Mary) Grove, of Bellevue, Washington, and Milan (Mary) Grove, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren, Derek (Liz) Grove, of Seattle, Washington, Jason (Christie) Grove, of Seattle, Washington, Jared Grove, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Evan Grove, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; one brother, Paul (Lois) Stombaugh, of Bryan; two nephews, Dr. Dennis (Isabelle) Stombaugh, of Akron, Ohio, and Dr. Ned (Lorisa) Stombaugh, of Coatesville, Pennsylvania; and one sister-in-law, Carolyn Grove, of Bristol, Indiana. Funeral services for Florence Grove will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2007, at Lockport Mennonite Church, 09268 County Road 21-N, Stryker, Ohio with Pastor Pamela Short officiating. Interment will follow in Shiffler Cemetery, rural Bryan. Visitation for Mrs. Grove will be held on Friday, April 27, 2007, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, Ohio. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church. Memorials in the name of Florence Grove may be given to Manchester College, Lockport Mennonite Church or Lick Creek Church of the Brethren.
