View Video Tribute Richard A. Callaway, age 54, of rural Montpelier (Nettle Lake), Ohio, died at 8:18 p.m. on Sunday, March 16, 2008, shortly after admittance to Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers in Montpelier, Ohio. Mr. Callaway was a 1972 graduate of Edon High School and served in the United States Army as a Medical Specialist. He spent many years working at Grant Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, as a medical technician in the trauma unit and worked as a real estate salesman in Newark, Ohio. Most recently he worked with his brother as safety director at First Call Towing in Fremont, Indiana. He was also instrumental in organizing the donation of the flag at the Northwest Township Community Hall on behalf of the Callaway family. Richard A. Callaway was born on December 16, 1953, in Wyandotte, Michigan, the son of William A. and Vala F. (Jackson) Callaway, Sr., and they survive in Edon, Ohio. In addition to his parents, Mr. Callaway is survived by a daughter, Kristen Callaway, of Groveport, Ohio, two brothers, Patrick (Deborah) Callaway, of Edon, Ohio, and John (April) Callaway, of Fremont, Indiana, one sister, Bonnie Long, of Crawfordville, Florida, and a sister-in-law, Kathy Callaway, of Edon, Ohio. He was preceded in death by one brother, William A. Callaway, Jr., in 2001. Services for Richard A. Callaway will be on Friday, March 21, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edon, Ohio, with Pastor Nathan Derico of the Columbia Church of Christ officiating. Interment will follow in Columbia Cemetery near Columbia, Ohio, with grave side military rites conducted by the Edon American Legion. Visitation will be in the Krill Funeral Home, Edon, Ohio, from 2-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 20. Memorials in the name of Richard A. Callaway may be given to Veterans of Foriegn Wars or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
