Fred E. Fritz, age 89, of Kendallville, Indiana, and formerly a longtime resident of Edgerton, Ohio, died on Wednesday, December 19, 2007, at Kendallville Manor in Kendallville, where he was a resident. Mr. Fritz was formerly a lineman for Toledo Edison and then became the Light and Water Superintendent for the Village of Edgerton, retiring in 1980 with twenty-four years of service. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Navy, and was a Life Member of John D. Smith Post #10 of the American Legion in Edgerton, Ohio. He was also a member of the Edgerton Masonic Lodge #357 and Wolcottville First Baptist Church. Fred E. Fritz was born on May 17, 1918, in Farmer Township of Defiance County, Ohio, the son of Fred E. and Inez L. (Beattie) Fritz. He married Flossie M. Deal on January 18, 1941, in Edgerton, Ohio, and she survives. In addition to his wife, Mr. Fritz is survived by three daughters, Patricia (Ashford) Smith, of LaGrange, Indiana, Lynette (Ron) Davis, of Jacksonville, Florida, and Karen Louise Fritz, of Kendallville, Indiana, four grandchildren, one great-grandchild and one sister, Myra Mowry, of Bonita Springs, Florida. He was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers. Services for Fred E. Fritz will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. in the Krill Funeral Home in Edgerton, Ohio, with Pastor Keith Perry officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Edgerton, Ohio, with grave side military rites conducted by John D. Smith Post #10 of the American Legion. Visitation will be in the Krill Funeral Home in Edgerton from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 26. Memorials in the name of Fred E. Fritz may be given to Hospice or to the Wolcottville First Baptist Church.
