Howard W. Baker, 78 years, of Bryan, died on Wednesday, May 30, 2007, at Community Hospitals and Wellness Center, Bryan, Ohio. An Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, Howard was a heavy equipment operator and supervisor for the Los Angeles Water and Power Company for 32 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Bryan American Legion Post 284, the Writing Group of Defiance, and the Williams County Library Reading Group. He also had been a member of the Bryan Area Health Education Center of the Community Hospital and Wellness Center in Bryan and the Older Adult Task Force in Bryan. Howard W. Baker was born on February 16, 1929, in Montpelier, Ohio, the son of Clark W. and Lucille C. (Cotton) Baker. Surviving are his sister, Betty Curry, of Moor Park, California; two brothers, James A. Baker, of Bryan, and Norman T. (Barbara Ann) Baker, of Defiance; and his life partner, Pat Watson, of Bryan. Funeral services for Howard W. Baker will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2007, in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan with Rev. David E. Tilly officiating. Interment will follow in Farmer Cemetery. Visitation for Mr. Baker will be held on Friday, June 1, 2007, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, Bryan. Memorials in the name of Howard W. Baker may be given to the Williams County Public Library.
