Stanley Gene Dennis, age 76, of Montpelier, Ohio, died on Saturday, November 24, 2007, in his home after an illness of more than a year. Mr. Dennis was a 1949 graduate of Edgerton High School and was employed as an owner/operator in the semi trucking business until his retirement in 1989. He spent seventeen years in Englewood, Florida, and summered in Ohio. While in Ohio he worked as a truck driver for Pahl’s Ready Mix and as a golf ranger at Riverside Greens in Stryker, Ohio. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the United States Army. He was an avid softball player and loved to play golf. Mr. Dennis was a member of the River of Life Church in Montpelier, Ohio, Bryan American Legion Post #284, Bryan Eagles Aerie #2233, AARP Chapter #80 and the Defiance Moose Lodge. Stanley Gene Dennis was born on April 2, 1931, in Portland, Indiana, the son of Howard L. and Mildred (Darby) Dennis. He married Deloris Ann Knapp on July 17, 1954, in Pulaski, Ohio, and she survives. In addition to his wife, Mr. Dennis is survived by two sons, Daniel (Diana) Dennis and Douglas (Kathy) Dennis, both of Bryan, Ohio, six grandchildren, Heidi Saaf, of Ney, Ohio, Regina Parnham, of Hicksville, Ohio, Jason, Jeremy, Jaime, and MaKayla Dennis, all of Bryan, Ohio, eight great-grandchildren, Destiny Dennis, Alexandria and Prestin Parnham, Aisha Dennis, Michael and Nathan Beck, Jaydon and Jericho Dennis, two brothers, Leo (Arlene) Franks, of Bryan, Ohio, and Wayne (Marge) Dennis, of Bradenton, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Richard Dennis, and one grandson, Jacob Dennis. Services for Stanley Gene Dennis will be on Wednesday, November 28, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. in the Krill Funeral Home at 860 West Mulberry Street in Bryan, Ohio, with Pastor Homer Miller officiating. Interment will be in Shiffler Cemetery near Bryan, Ohio. Visitation will be in the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 27. Memorials in the name of Stanley Gene Dennis may be given to Cancer Assistance of Williams County or to Visiting Nurses and Hospice of Williams and Fulton Counties.
