View Video Tribute Helen I. Mavis, age 82, of Farmer, Ohio, died at 2:35 a.m. on Wednesday, January 30, 2008, at the Hope Hospice House North in Cape Coral, Florida, where she was a patient. Mrs. Mavis was a 1943 graduate of Farmer High School and was secretary for the Mavis Garage in Farmer, Ohio, for many years, which was operated by her husband. She is a member of the Farmer United Methodist Church, a past member of the Farmer American Legion Auxiliary, and the Country Cousins Club. Helen I. Mavis was born on April 22, 1925, in Newville, Indiana, the daughter of Preston and Agnes (Reas) Beard. She married Cletus L. Mavis on March 4, 1944, in Farmer, Ohio, and he survives. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Mavis is survived by three daughters, Linda (Ronald) Calvin, of Hamilton, Indiana, Judy (Steve) Psurny, of Bryan, Ohio, and Joyce (Ray) Crites, of Ney, Ohio, one son, Larry (Eva) Mavis, of Farmer, Ohio, ten grandsons, eleven great-grandchildren, one sister, Lois (Leighton) Fritz, of Hamilton, Indiana, and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Mavis, of Edgerton, Ohio. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Aric Mavis. Services for Helen I. Mavis will be on Monday, February 4, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, Ohio. Interment will follow in the Farmer Cemetery, Farmer, Ohio. Visitation will be in the Krill Funeral Home in Bryan, Ohio, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, February 3. In lieu of any floral contributions, the family requests that memorials be given to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
