Joseph J. Lingvai, age 91, of Bryan, Ohio, and formerly a longtime resident of Edgerton, Ohio, died late Saturday, January 19, 2008, in his home. Mr. Lingvai was a farmer and a veteran of the United States Army, serving in World War II. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Edgerton and attended St. Patrick Catholic Church after moving to Bryan in 2005. He was also a a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, of which he was a past Commander, in Edgerton, Ohio, and currently was a member of Bryan Post #2489. Joseph J. Lingvai was born on July 7, 1916, in Toledo, Ohio, the son of Stephen and Mary (Molnar) Lingvai. He married Mathilda M. Gegus on September 22, 1945, in Detroit, Michigan, and she preceded him in death on May 1, 1996. Mr. Lingvai is survived by two sons, Michael (JoAnn) Lingvai, of Wichita, Kansas, and Thomas (Sue) Lingvai, of Bryan, Ohio, one daughter, Marguerite (Tony) Patch, of San Francisco, California, five granddaughters, one grandson, and eleven great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Mr. Lingvai was preceded in death by three brothers, Stephen, James and Elmer Lingvai, and three sisters, Mary Hofbauer, Ethel Imm and Helen Worlan. Services for Joseph J. Lingvai will be on Friday, January 25, 2008, at 11:30 a.m. in St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bryan, Ohio, with Father Charles Ritter officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Edgerton, Ohio, with grave side military rites conducted by the Bryan Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2489. Visitation will be in the Krill Funeral Home at 860 West Mulberry Street in Bryan, Ohio, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, January 24, 2008, with recitation of the rosary at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Memorials in the name of Joseph J. Lingvai may be given to St. Mary Catholic Church or St. Patrick Catholic Church.
