Marjorie E. Ames, age 97, of, Bryan, Ohio, died at 5:45 a.m. on Thursday, January 17, 2008, at Fountain Park Inn and Villas in Bryan, Ohio. A 1928 graduate of Montpelier High School, Mrs. Ames worked as a secretary for Bryan City Schools for twenty-five years and for Williams County Human Services for ten years. A member of First Presbyterian Church in Bryan, Mrs. Ames also held memberships in Orchard Hills Country Club, Bryan Civic League, Claire Newcomer Club, and Bryan Hospital Auxiliary. An avid bridge player, she was also a member of various local bridge groups. Marjorie E. Ames was born on May 27, 1910, in Montpelier, Ohio, the daughter of Frank and Della (Shasteen) Copeland. She married Roger P. Ames on September 1, 1940, in Cleveland, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on January 15, 1993. Mrs. Ames is survived by one daughter, Jane (Dan) Straziuso, of Bryan, Ohio, and Bishop Roger (Gretsie) Ames, of Akron, Ohio, five grandchildren, Amanda Ames Reymann, Christopher Ames, Kristin Boyers Mihm, Matthew Boyers and Courtney Boyers, four great-grandchildren, and one brother, George (Doris) Copeland, of Montpelier. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Ames was preceded in death by two sisters, Leota Patten and Lila Dubois, two brothers, Ralph and Glen Copeland, and an infant granddaughter. Services for Marjorie E. Ames will be on Monday, January 21, 2008, at 12:00 p.m. in the First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Gus Nussdorfer officiating. Visitation will be in the church from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., prior to the service on Monday. Interment will be in Fountain Grove Cemetery, Bryan, Ohio. Memorials in the name of Marjorie E. Ames may be given to First Presbyterian Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
