View Video Tribute Gerald Michael “Jerry” Distel, age 53, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 10:55 p.m. on Monday, June 6, 2005, in his home after an illness of six months. Mr. Distel was employed as a product designer with Ingersoll-Rand/Aro from 1972 until the time of his death. He was a 1970 graduate of Napoleon High School and attended Tri-State University in Angola, Indiana, for two years. He was a member of the Bryan Moose Lodge #1064 and Bryan Eagles Aerie #2233. He was an avid golfer and a member of Suburban Golf Club near Bryan. Gerald Michael “Jerry” Distel was born August 27, 1951, in Pontiac, Michigan, the son of Joseph Jacob and Shirley Ann (Pardee) Distel. He married Donna L. Badman-Shaffer on the 100 yard marker of the 18th hole of Suburban Golf Course on October 21, 2000, and she survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two step-sons, Jeremy (and fiancee Sharon Bisel) Shaffer, of Evansport, Ohio, and Jason Shaffer, of Montpelier, Ohio, his mother, Shirley Distel, of Napoleon, Ohio, one brother, Joseph D. (Kathi) Distel, of Napoleon, Ohio, three sisters, Kathy (Clem) Kutzli, Jr., of Wauseon, Ohio, Karen (Scott) Saputo, of Napoleon, Ohio, and Barbara Wilson, of Bryan, Ohio. He is also survived by five nephews and seven nieces. He was preceded in death by his father and one sister, Susan Muncy. Services for Gerald Michael “Jerry” Distel will be Friday, June 10, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, Bryan, Ohio, with Father Daniel Borgelt officiating. Burial will follow in St. Augustine Catholic Cemetery in Napoleon, Ohio. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 9. Memorials in the name of Gerald Michael “Jerry” Distel may be given to Hospice of Williams and Fulton Counties or to the American Cancer Society.
