Betty I. Carroll, age 79, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 4:14 p.m. on Wednesday, November 21, 2007, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where she was a patient. Mrs. Carroll was a 1946 graduate of Bryan High School and was employed by the Ohio Art Company in Bryan, Ohio, retiring in 1990 with thirty-seven years of service. She was an active member of the Pulaski United Methodist Church, where she was Sunday school superintendent for many years. She was a member of the Bryan Evening Star Chapter #248, Order of the Eastern Star, Williams County Toastmasters, Bryan American Legion Post #284 Auxiliary, Bryan Moose Lodge #1064 and attended the Life Group at Wesley United Methodist Church. Betty I. Carroll was born on July 28, 1928, in Montpelier, Ohio, the daughter of Ernest C. and Lura O. (Shilling) Spencer. She married Denver D. Carroll on June 12, 1948, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and he preceded her in death on December 16, 2000. Mrs. Carroll is survived by one daughter, Lynne M. (Roger) Grandey, of Hicksville, Ohio, one son, Gary L. (Hollie) Carroll, of West Unity, Ohio, five grandchildren, Jason L. (Ashley) Grandey, of Edgerton, Ohio, Brent W. Grandey, of Lakewood, Ohio, Traci M. Grandey, of Bowling Green, Ohio, Haylee N. and Marlee A. Carroll, of West Unity, Ohio, a great-grandson, Noah Grandey, and special friend, Vern Keiss, of Montpelier, Ohio. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Carroll was preceded in death by three sisters, Edith Flegal, Edna Schaffter-Whitney, and Ona Spencer. Services for Betty I. Carroll will be on Tuesday, November 27, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. in the Krill Funeral at 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, Ohio, with Pastor Debbie Kaylor of the Pulaski United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Shiffler Cemetery near Bryan, Ohio. Visitation will be in the Krill Funeral Home in Bryan from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Monday, November 26. Memorials in the name of Betty I. Carroll may be given to the Bryan Area Foundation or to the Pulaski United Methodist Church.
