Stanley Charles Sanders

Stanley Charles Sanders, age 70, of Southern Pines, North Carolina, died on Monday, May 5, 2008, at the First Health Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, North Carolina, where he was a patient. Mr. Sanders served in the U.S. Army as an interpreter with CO. A 319th USASA Battalion. He was employed for 37 years with ARO/Ingersoll-Rand, first as a manager in Bryan, Ohio, and later transferring to the Southern Pines area, where he chose to retire. He was a Communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Southern Pines and was a 3rd Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus Council #6824 of Southern Pines, of which he was a former Grand Knight. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and the Cleveland Indians. Stanley Charles Sanders was born on July 20, 1937, in Edgerton, Ohio, the son of the late Charles and Julia (Bell) Sanders. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Renate Sanders, of Southern Pines; one son, Markus M. (Donna) Sanders, of Sophia, North Carolina; one daughter, Korina S. (Timothy) McGill, of Greensboro, North Carolina; two grandchildren and one step-granddaughter. He is also survived by one sister, Mary L. Sanders, of Edgerton, Ohio, one brother, Anthony F. (Kathleen) Sanders, of Maumee, Ohio, and three sisters-in-law, Margaret Sanders, Maxine Sanders and JoAnn Sanders, all of Edgerton. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Roy, John and Paul Sanders, and one sister, Ruth Ann Sanders. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2008, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Edgerton, Ohio, with Father Stephen Schroeder officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Edgerton with grave side military rites conducted by John D. Smith Post #10 of the American Legion.
