Joan L. Vitek, 67 years, of Montpelier, Ohio, died at 1:43 p.m. Sunday, June 5, 2005 at the Dilworth Center of Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers, Montpelier, Ohio. Joan began her working career as a telephone operator for General Telephone, in both Indiana and Ohio. She also worked for the former 50 Corporation, the former Champion Molded Plastics and Higby’s in Archbold. She ended her working career as a dispatcher for Preston Trucking Company. She was a member of House of Prayer in Montpelier. Joan L. Vitek was born on October 7, 1937, in Noble County, Indiana, the daughter of Wess and Orpha (Kalb) Hartsock. She married Tony Vitek on January 10, 1986 in Montpelier, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on November 17, 2004. Surviving Joan is her stepdaughter, Karen J. Sims, of Bryan, Ohio, two stepsons, Gerry M. (Kathy) Vitek of Bryan, Ohio, and Randy G. (Marcia S.) Vitek of Defiance, Ohio; seven step grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren; her mother, Orpha Hartsock, two sisters, Jane (Don) Partee of Bryan, Ohio, and Janice (Larry) Mollett of Montpelier, Ohio; three brothers, Robert (Laura) Hartsock of Montpelier, Ohio, Roger (Diana) Hartsock of Edon, Ohio , and Rodney Hartsock and his companion, Sandy Roberts of Montpelier, Ohio; several nieces and nephews; Goddaughter, Sara Selgren of Bryan, Ohio, and special friend, Pearl Baumgardner of Hamilton, Indiana. Funeral services for Joan L. Vitek will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2005 in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, Ohio with Pastor Don Harris, officiating. Interment will follow in Shiffler, Cemetery, rural Bryan. Visitation for Mrs. Vitek will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2005 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Krill Funeral Home. Memorials in the name of Joan Vitek may be given to the House of Prayer or the Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers-Hospice Care.
