View Video Tribute Roger W. Kimpel, age 93, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, January 27, 2008, at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers in Montpelier, Ohio, where he was a patient. A lifelong resident of Edgerton, Mr. Kimpel was a lifelong farmer and retired from Challenge Cook Brothers. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Edgerton and was a former advisor of the Edgerton Blue Ribbon Dairy 4-H Club. Roger W. Kimpel was born on July 14, 1914, in Defiance County, Ohio, the son of Frederick J. and Zila B. (Thompson) Kimpel. He married Dorothy C. Stark on July 3, 1940, in Edgerton, Ohio, and she survives. In addition to his wife, Mr. Kimpel is survived by nine children, Norman (Becky) Kimpel, of Edgerton, Duane (Sandie) Kimpel, of Montpelier, Ohio, Diane (William) Bauer, of Mableton, Georgia, Neal (Sherri) Kimpel, of Edgerton, JoAnn (Steve) Skiles, of West Unity, Ohio, Laura (Gerald “Buck”) Suntken, of Butler, Indiana, Mary Jane (John) Heisler, of Montpelier, Ohio, Melinda (Steve) St. John, of Bryan, Ohio, and Sherry (David) Nofziger, of Edmond, Oklahoma, one daughter-in-law, Karen (Brad) Karris, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, 28 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Eugene, a daughter, Donna, an infant son, Carlton, an infant daugher, Elizabeth Ann, seven sisters, and one infant brother. Services for Roger W. Kimpel will be on Wednesday, January 30, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary Catholic Church, Edgerton, Ohio, with Father Stephen Schroeder officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Edgerton, Ohio. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 29, in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, Ohio, with recitation of the Rosary at 8:00 p.m. Memorials in the name of Roger W. Kimpel may be given to St. Mary’s elevator fund or to the Edgerton Senior Center.
