View Video Tribute Lorna Lynne Allshouse, age 44, of Beavercreek, Ohio, died of cancer on Sunday, February 24, 2008, at Hospice of Dayton. She was born on August 1, 1963, in Paulding, Ohio, to Carla Lea (Hinkle) and David Lester Allshouse. Lorna was a 1981 graduate of Bryan High School in the Top 10% of her class. She attended Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science in 1985. Her career as a software engineer spanned 20 years working for the U.S. government in Maryland, Colorado, California, and Ohio. Surviving are her parents, Carla Lea (Hinkle) and David Lester Allshouse, of Bryan, Ohio; a sister, Lisa Lea Allshouse, and a niece, Elizabeth Lea McDonald, of Bryan,Ohio; aunts and uncles, Deane (Allshouse) and Ernest Stoller of Leo, Indiana; Jean (Allshouse) and Terry Baker of Fostoria, Ohio; Nancy (Allshouse) and Norman Larsen of Bremen, Indiana; Sandra (Hinkle) and Gerry Wright of White Cloud, Michigan; Judy and James Allshouse of Muncie, Indiana; Deanna and Robert Allshouse of Angola, Indiana; Gail and Richard Allshouse of Centennial, Colorado; Susan and Richard Hinkle of Columbia City, Indiana; Lou Ellen and Barry Hinkle of Frontier, Michigan; and many cousins and their children. She is also survived by her ex-husband, David Scheeler, of Colorado. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Dorothy Malissa (Coon) and Lester Henry Allshouse, as well as her maternal grandparents, Barbara Irene (Crofts) and Darrell Richard Hinkle. In the past Lorna was a member of the Vetterettes, a baton twirling group, and the Girl Scouts, achieving First Class honors. She participated in the Bryan High School marching and concert bands, as well as the BGSU Falcon marching and concert bands, playing several muscial instruments: flute, tenor saxaphone, oboe and baritone. She also participated in the BGSU Ice Skating Club and the Columbia Figure Skating Club of Maryland. She volunteered at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge in Colorado. She was an active member of her house of worship in Beavercreek, The Vineyard, participating in Small Group and volunteering in several capacities. Through the World Vision organization, she sponsored a child in Ghana and a family in Romania. She was a fervent advocate of wildlife and the environment, donating time and money to organizations and projects that furthered those causes. Visitation will be Friday, February 29, 2008, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Krill Funeral Home at 860 West Mulberry Street in Bryan, Ohio. Services will be on Saturday, March 1, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at the Krill Funeral Home in Bryan with Bill Priest to officiate. Interment will take place in Brown Cemetery near Bryan. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to World Vision, P.O. Box 70200, Tacoma, WA 98481-0200, or a charity of the donor's choice.
