View Video Tribute Thelma M. Sponseller, age 76, formerly of Sherwood, Ohio, died at 5:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 28, 2008, at Brookview Healthcare Center in Defiance, Ohio, where she was a resident. Mrs. Sponseller was a graduate of Mark Center High School. Thelma M. Sponseller was born on May 21, 1931, in Mark Center, Ohio, the daughter of George and Ethel (Elser) Obenland. She married Jerald J. Sponseller on June 24, 1951, in Sherwood, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on October 29, 2001. Mrs. Sponseller is survived by two daughters, Pamela (Ronald) Pierce, of Ney, Ohio, and Jill (Lee) Nihart, of Bryan, Ohio, one son, Scott Sponseller, in Massachusetts, ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Ellen Cooper, of Hicksville, Ohio, and Jan Harter, of Sherwood, Ohio. In addition to her husband, Jerald, Mrs. Sponseller was preceded in death by her parents. Services for Thelma M. Sponseller will be on Monday, March 3, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, Ohio, with Jim Stinehelfer officiating. Interment will follow in Lost Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be in the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday, March 2, 2008, and one hour prior to the service, beginning at 9:30 a.m., on Monday, March 3. Memorials in the name of Thelma M. Sponseller may be given to Lick Creek Church of the Brethren in Bryan, Ohio, or to the Friends of Feline Rescue Center at 14597 Power Dam Road, Defiance, Ohio 43512.
