Rose M. Karnes, age 92, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 11:42 a.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2008, at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, Indiana, where she was a patient following a brief illness. Mrs. Karnes was a homemaker, who also worked as a newspaper linotype operator. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Edgerton, Rosary Altar Society, and Catholic Ladies of Columbia and a former member of the Moose Lodge. Rose M. Karnes was born on September 8, 1915, in Edgerton, Ohio, the daughter of August and Bertha L. (Goebel) Herman. She married Odo Karnes on November 27, 1943, in Edgerton, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on August 1983. Mrs. Karnes is survived by one daughter, Sue Klosinski, of Toledo, Ohio, and one son, Gerard (Ruby) Karnes, of Springfield, Missouri, five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one step-grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Murwin X. Herman and Casimir P. Herman. Services for Rose M. Karnes will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary Catholic Church, Edgerton, Ohio, with Father Stephen Schroeder officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Edgerton, Ohio. There will be no visitation. Memorials in the name of Rose M. Karnes may be given to St. Mary’s School.
