Fern Fix, age 94, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 10:16 p.m. on August 16, 2008, at Heartland of Wauseon, where she was a resident. Mrs. Fix was a 1931 graduate of Bryan High School and studied for two years at the Chicago Training School to be a concert pianist. She was a member of the Melbern United Methodist Church, where she played the piano for fifteen years, and also a member of the Mary Martha Circle of the United Methodist Women. Fern Fix was born September 5, 1913, in Hillsdale, Michigan, the daughter of Charles T. and Lora Harriet (Hinkle) Clay. She married Hillis Fix on February 8, 1942, in Ney, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on February 28, 1986. Mrs. Fix is survived by one son, Thomas E. (Kathleen) Fix, of Fayette, Ohio, one daughter, Carole Beard, Ph.D., of Edgerton, Ohio, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Fix was preceded in death by one brother, Forrest Clay, and a grandson, Charles Beard. Services for Fern Fix will be on Wednesday, August 20, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. in the Melbern United Methodist Church with Pastor Diane Schaffner officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton, Ohio. Visitation will be in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, Ohio, from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 19. Memorials in the name of Fern Fix may be given to the Melbern United Methodist Church or Hospice of Williams and Fulton Counties.
